Nerodavalos

The real journey is the one that upon returning makes you believe you have not only seen but above all "felt". To do so, therefore, you need to go deep, that's why "deep"..to touch, feel, live.

MOROCCO DEEP TRIP is a trip conceived and designed by me, "NERODAVALOS, the Road indeed" and is aimed at those who are truly interested in knowing and adapting to the culture of a place, as well as tasting bizarre foods, interacting with local people, stopping in the middle of unknown places to take a photo or simply breathing the air, feeling part of a travel group in which to create new friendships and with whom to collaborate in the various moments and activities.

I propose MOROCCO DEEP TRIP in collaboration with ToubkalGuide, a renowned tour operator based in Marrakech, specialized in hiking trips, which uses certified local guides and present in the most renowned travel guides such as "Lonely Planet".

I will accompany you by showing you the authentic Morocco, far from the traditional tourist routes, aiming straight for its essence, through an itinerary that will touch sites and elements that are varied and representative of Moroccan culture and landscape: ksar, kasbah, souk, medina, marabout, the Sahara, the High Atlas mountains, the Berber mountain villages, the nomadic communities.

The methods already distinguish this trip: local guide, who I will approach as a second Western guide-tour leader, autonomous collective vehicle, exclusive and longer excursion in the desert, zoom-call for illustration and pre-departure briefing, limited number of participants, direct involvement of the group in moments such as the preparation of camels, camps, meals.

Road, nature, culture, slowness, freedom, immersion, senses will finally be the founding values of this experience, which at the moment will leave you speechless but as soon as you return will transform you into a skilled storyteller.

TRAVEL PROGRAM

Day 1 1  |  Marrakech-Ait Ben Haddou

After reaching the meeting point of the travel companions in Marrakech (see section “group meeting and gathering”) we will set off towards Ait Ben Addou (journey duration approx. 5h). The journey will pass through the Tizi ‘n’ Tichka pass offering unforgettable views of the High Atlas and for this reason considered one of the most scenic in Morocco. Ait Ben Addou is located exactly below the High Atlas mountains on the edge of the Sahara Desert. The Ksar in mudbricks protected by UNESCO seems frozen in time, testifying to its function as an Almoravid caravanserai carried out in the 11th century. Overnight stay in Ait Ben Addou.
Dinner included.

Day 2  |  Ait Ben Haddou-M’hamid el Ghizlan

After an early breakfast the group will have about 3 hours to visit the village independently also in order to establish a first approach to the Moroccan atmosphere. Afterwards the direct journey into the desert continues by minibus for about 3 hours, passing by Tizi n Tinifift through the Draa River Valley, also known as the Valley of a Hundred Kasbahs. A short stop at a local merchant will give the opportunity to buy a shash (indigenous scarf) helpful for the upcoming planned trek. We will proceed to M’hamid for the first night of camping where showers and essential comforts will be helpful to prepare us in the best possible way for the trek in the desert.
Breakfast and dinner included.

Now the journey to meet the immense Sahara and to travel inside ourselves can begin. After about 4 hours of walking we enjoy a lunch break under a shady tree in Race N’khel and then continue our trek for about 3 hours to the sacred site of Sidi Naji, where we will visit the Ancient Marabout and where we will set up our first mobile camp. Therefore overnight in a tent under the starry sky only 14km from the border with Algeria.
Trekking: about 6 hours |

Day 4  |  Sidi Naji-Erg Ait Ounir

As soon as the sun rises, the color of the landscape will unfold in all its power. A freshly cooked breakfast will prepare us well for the intense day of trekking that awaits us. After about 3 or 4 hours of walking, we will have crossed a large part of the desert. At that point we will make a stop in the middle of the “Sublime Desert” for lunch. After that the walk will continue for another 3 hours until we reach the wonderful area of Ait Ounir dunes beyond the Draa River, the longest in Morocco, where we will set up our second mobile camp and spend magical moments with the nomad families.

Day 5  |  Erg Ait Ounir-M’hamid

Our trekking adventure through the magical Sahara desert will start again immediately after breakfast. After walking for about 2/3 hours we will stop for lunch, helping to prepare traditional dishes such as couscous and tajin. At that point we will resume the return journey through the landscape of the Sublime Desert to reach M’hamid el Ghizlan in the late afternoon, around 5:00 am. Once we reach our destination we will find accommodation equipped with all the necessary comforts and we will enjoy our well-deserved shower and dinner.
